I love to use minky on the back of my quilts. It is so soft and it just feels like a hug! It can be a bit problematic when longarming, though. Those soft fibers often pull up with the thread to the top of the quilt. It doesn't look very pretty. They get trapped in the stitches and are hard to pick out.
It doesn't seem to matter how good the minky is or how sharp and new my needle is. No matter what I do, the minky pulls up from the back. But, I've found that those little bits of minky seem to disappear when the quilt gets washed. (I make most of my quilts to be used.) The quilt is more beautiful.
As I was dealing with this on my longarm machine one day, I thought of the Savior. He washed away my sins when he suffered in Gethsemane and when he died on the cross. He gave me a beautiful gift.
It's like when I'm trying to do all I can to keep the minky from coming up from the back, it seems to make it's way through anyway. I work hard to do what's right in my life, but I end up making mistakes. The Savior is there to help me through it and remind me that his grace will save me.
